DICLOFENAC INTERACTIONS WITH WARFARIN (Coumadin, Jantoven) |
||
| Brand Names:
Cataflam, Voltaren, Arthrotec, Voltaren Cream I have been unable to find any published reports of patients experiencing difficulties with the combination of diclofenac and warfarin when used by mouth. However, a reader sent the following information about a diclofenac product used externally (this is not available in the US). Voltaren is described in all my pharmaceutical books as dangerous to use with Warfarin. My doctor wont let me use Voltaren. A few months ago an assistant in a pharmacy sold me some Voltaren cream to apply on my feet to ease the pain from arthritis. After a few days I had to see a doctor urgently one Sunday because my face suddenly became very badly bruised on one side. Going over my medications my doctor told me to stop using Voltaren cream immediately. My INR was 5.4. Voltaren cannot be used with Warfarin. I found an article about a patient in Hong Kong who had a similar reaction. So caution is advised with this combination. Reference: Chan TY.
