  With his extensive experience is anticoagulation, Mr. Lodwick is qualified as an expert witness in litigation involving warfarin and other pharmaceutical matters. His method is different from many expert witnesses in that he also works closely with the attorney in advising both strong and weak points of both plaintiff and defendant.

Cases have included

  • A successful defense of a dentist who had a patient suffer a stroke in the dental chair
  • A person who went partially blind as a result of a drug interaction
  • A person who had a lung removed unintentionally
  • A successful defense of a charge of second degree murder (the deceased was taking warfarin)
  • A successful defense of a physician who had a person who die shortly after being started on warfarin
  • A successful outcome when a police department tried to prevent an officer from returning to duty while taking warfarin
  • Advice to an attorney to accept a settlement of a client's suit against a physician because it was a weak case
  • A pending case in which the plaintiff suffered a bleed into the brain from the amiodarone-warfarin interaction
  • An action against an extended care facility that failed to administer warfarin to a patient who had a stroke and died
  • An action against an internet pharmacy that delivered prescription medications to a teenager posing as an adult
  • An action against a pharmacist who dispensed the wrong strength of warfarin resulting in the death of the patient
  • An unsuccessful defense of a physician who mismanaged warfarin resulting in the death of the patient

 

  During the past twenty years, Mr. Lodwick has given a large number of presentations.  These audiences have varied from Navajo high school students, to the general public, to a state pharmacists' convention to groups of physicians and at a Food and Drug Administration Hearing.  He has programs available to train health-care professionals in monitoring warfarin, for dental organizations on the current recommendations regarding warfarin when dental work is needed, for attorneys who want to understand warfarin therapy more thoroughly and can design a program for almost any group who wants to learn about this medication.

  Mr. Lodwick also designed and implemented the anticoagulation clinic in which he works.  He has also taught over 1,200 professionals the techniques of anticoagulation management.
