GRISEOFULVIN INTERACTIONS WITH WARFARIN |
||
|
Brand Names: Fulvicin, Grifulvin V, Grisactin This drug is not widely used since newer agents are available. Okino and Weibert reported the case of a person who experienced an interaction between griseofulvin and warfarin. The patient had been on a stable warfarin dose for twelve months when griseofulvin was started. Over the next three months, he needed a warfarin dose increase of 41% to maintain therapeutic anticoagulation. The interaction appeared to be dose-dependent because when the griseofulvin dose was lowered, the warfarin dose needed to be lowered also. Immediate dose adjustment was not needed. The authors recommend following the anticoagulation level weekly. Reference: Okino K, Weibert RT. Warfarin-Griseofulvin Interaction Drug Intell Clin Pharm 1986;20:291-293.
