||
| Polepalle
and Monga reported that interstitial laser therapy was found to be safe
and effective in eight men with benign prostatic hyperplasia. The
men had INRs between 2.0 and 3.6. Three had urinary retention and
failed voiding trials. The five others had severe symptoms and
failed medical therapy. The mean time to perform the procedure was
25 minutes and the mean total laser energy was 6,785 Joules. Seven
of the eight men were voiding spontaneously at one week and all eight were
by three weeks.
