THE QUESTION OF THE DAY

What is the safest pain reliever when you are taking warfarin?  I get no relief from acetaminophen (Tylenol) --Marge

The entire field of pain relief (whether you are taking warfarin or not) is unclear right now.  The United States Food and Drug Administration says that stomach bleeding can happen with any Non-steroidal pain reliever.  However, the US National Library of Medicine with over 15 million articles going back to the 1950s does not list even one case where a person was actually harmed by the combination of warfarin and naproxen.  Some brand names for naproxen ate Alleve (non-prescription), Naproxen (prescription) and Anaprox (prescription).  It seems that this would be a good place to start.
