INR Self-Testing from Raytel

THE QUESTION OF THE DAY

I take 10 mg of warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven) daily.  Is there some natural product that I could take to supplement the warfarin so that I would not have to take so much? -- R

No.  The next best thing to warfarin for preventing clots is aspirin.  For clots that result from sluggish blood flow you lose about 80% of the effectiveness of warfarin by switching to aspirin.  Any other product would give up even more protection.  Besides it might not have an effect on the PT/INR test so you would not know what effect you are getting.  Trying some vegetable material for this may cause you to have a stroke and become a vegetable yourself.
