THE QUESTION OF THE DAY

My wife is 38 years old and we have been married for many years.  Her periods have always been 5 days long.  This summer she had to start on warfarin and from that day on her periods have been 9 days long.  She takes no other medications.  If this is not due to warfarin, how would you account for this? -- R.

My wife never took warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven), but a similar thing happened to her at about this same age.  She wound up having a D&C to remove excessive tissue build up.  I think that she needs an evaluation by her gynecologist before you can place the blame on warfarin.
