RIBAVIRIN INTERACTION WITH WARFARIN
In the January 2002 issue of Pharmacotherapy, there is a report of a 61-year-old man on warfarin who was treated with interferon and ribavirin over the course of one year for hepatitis C. The dose of warfarin had to be increased by 40% to maintain the desired level of anticoagulation. The author recommends frequent monitoring during the four week period after starting or stopping ribavirin therapy.
