VALPROATE INTERACTION WITH WARFARIN |
||
|
Brand names: Valproic Acid, Depakene, Depakote, Depacon. This interaction appears to be less significant than those of the other similar drugs carbamazepine and phenytoin. There have been some reported incidents of increases in the INR when valproate was added to warfarin. The safest course of action is to have your INR checked about 3 to 5 days after valproate is started, if you are already taking warfarin. If you have been stabilized on the combination of warfarin and valproate, stopping the valproate may decrease your INR. The safest course of action is to have your INR checked about 3 to 5 days after the valproate is stopped. SEE A CATALOG OF PUBLICATIONS AVAILABLE FROM LODWICK CREATIONS, LLC.
